I am glad to see Lanhydrock Cricket Club moving into 2007 with a positive and future-orientated approach. The First XI has seen 3 very successful years under the captaincy of Steve Cavendish and I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to continue the development of our exciting club.

The new season offers everyone at Lanhydrock a chance to expand and achieve their goals and ambitions. As captain, I am looking forward to working with the club closely to help you realise your ambitions for yourselves and your cricket club. My own ambition is to captain a side with a positive mentality that focuses on teamwork, both on and off the field.

Promotion is always the foremost target for me when I start a new season, and that is not beyond either, or both, of our sides. But my primary aim is to play in a team every week that shows heart, spirit, unity, application and a correct sporting etiquette. We have a club with an excellent balance of youth and experience, talent and determination; together we can be world beaters!

Remember, cricket is a leisure activity played with your friends at your own choice, and everyone who expects to do well next year should turn up prepared. You will need only two things – a smile on your face, and enough money in your pocket to buy your new skipper a pint!
